Brimonidine Tartrate 0.2% +Timolol Maleate 0.5% +Chloride Solution 0.02%
The active ingredients in OPTIMOL-BR 5ML are brimonidine tartrate and timolol. Both of these two elements reduces elevated intraocular pressure, whether or not it is caused by glaucoma.Elevated intraocular pressure is a significant risk factor in the development of optic nerve injury and glaucomatous visual field failure. The higher the intraocular pressure, the more likely glaucomatous field failure and optic nerve injury.OPTIMAL- BR 5ML is a non-selective alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist with a moderately selective alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist. Brimonidine and timolol both have a fast onset of action, with brimonidine reaching peak ocular hypotensive effect two hours after administration and timolol reaching peak ocular hypotensive effect one to two hours after administration. Timolol maleate is an adrenergic receptor beta1 and beta2 regulator with no inherent sympathomimetic, overt myocardial depressant, or local anaesthetic (membrane-stabilizing) function.
Although it can have side effects on some people that includes slow or uneven heart rates, you can experience fluttering in your chest, lightheadedness, increasing watery eyes due to eye pain, numbness or tingly feeling in your hands and feet.
